Maker of interesting things...
Where do we start? This is super cool!
A working portable showcase, warehouse, sales pod, art exhibit with art work to support the first-we've-heard-of portable living wall. I had a lot of fun on this one.
A refuge in the woods.
This became an awesome sauna.
Garden Entrance, conversation nook, shaded pergola, all in one.
Parts of an early project for a school in Alna.
Art for art's sake. An ongoing exhibit with Eva Goetz.
Old barnboard, Black walnut and Birch. Shared vision and artistic licence.
Humans and trees are both organic creatures with very few sharp edges and straight lines. Much of the built environment is intentionally contrary to that for both function and aesthetic. So while I appreciate precision and incorporate it to build solidity and function, I also try to include some of the more fluid shapes we find in water, woods, human form and inspired sculpture. I think we inherently find comfort in the shapes humans have been surrounded by since before the mechanized age. I appreciate the art that combines techniques and ages.
A lot of what I build is temporary, like it or not. I think it's important to recognize that and build with materials that have the least negative impact on the world, for their given purpose. I enjoy working with untreated wood and letting it age naturally. When its usefullness has ended, it can be composted or burned without consequence. I also work to reuse the elements that can be, thereby extending their use.
